Advice please: Scared to shoot my shot

I have known him for 2 yrs, we both go to the same school and have talked a couple of times and hangout around the same crowd. I have never paid attention to him although he has all the traits I look for in a man because I was talking to someone else at the time. On our last semester, I started develop feelings towards him after I stopped talking to the other guy. I was so busy during the semester and a bit afraid that i brushed these feelings under the rug and avoided him. Now, I can’t stop thinking about him but we both went our separate ways taking jobs in two different states after graduation. I want to hit him up but I am afraid and don’t know where to hit him up because we mainly talked in person and insta (he doesn’t have anymore) and in a mutual group in whatsapp and are connected on linkedin. I am not sure if I should hit him up on whatsapp, through it or on linkedin or just forget about him and move on but I feel that he is a great guy and i don’t want to forget about him.
